"Conversation should be pleasant without scurrility, witty without affectation, free without indecency, learned without conceitedness, novel without falsehood."

So blogs still seem to fascinate me, I am not exactly sure why, you would really think that I would of got over it by now, but I just don't seem to be able too. I really enjoy blogging, and the interaction, and it would seem that alot of other people are starting to enjoy this little craze. Google blog search is, erm..different, but at the same time it can open you up to alot of different blogs and perspectives on things, and that can only be a good thing. When I was looking through, I came across a blog that tracks the growth of blogs through the Technorati website. I was actually amazed at by what extreme numbers blogging is growing, take a look -

- Technorati now tracks over 35.3 Million blogs

- The blogosphere is doubling in size every 6 months It is now over 60 times bigger than it was 3 years ago

- On average, a new weblog is created every second of every day

- 19.4 million bloggers (55%) are still posting 3 months after their blogs are created

- Technorati tracks about 1.2 Million new blog posts each day, about 50,000 per hour

How amazing is that? I mean I know the internet is a huge place, and that you and I aren't actually that special (well you are ), but it is amazing that blogging is so huge, and is growing at such a rapid speed. When you think about it though, how could it not? The thing that amazes me most about blogging, and it does on a daily basis, is the undiscovered talent out there. There are really some amazing and talented people out there and thanks to blogging, we are able to gain just a little insight into how interesting, and what good writers these people actually are. Even if you only have a basic level of writing skills you can still share your views on just about any topic out there, and reach people. That is just wonderful.

Reading more on this topic, I discovered some more interesting facts. In April 2005 Technorati started tracking the primary language of blogs that were tracked. So basically you could choose a blog to read in your own language and filter out the ones that aren't. This allowed Technorati to get a good idea of where the worldwide growth of blogging was taking place. So here are some more interesting facts folks-

- The blogosphere is multilingual, and deeply international

- English, while being the language of the majority of early bloggers, has fallen to less than a third of all blog posts in April 2006.

- Japanese and Chinese language blogging has grown significantly.

- Chinese language blogging, while continuing to grow on an absolute basis, has begun to decline as an overall percentage of the posts that Technorati tracks over the last 6 months

- Japanese, Chinese, English, Spanish, Italian, Russian, French, Portuguese, Dutch, and German are the languages with the greatest number of posts tracked by Technorati.

- The Korean language is underrepresented in this analysis

- Language breakdown does not necessarily imply a particular country or regional breakdown.

Things like this make me realise just how small I am in the big picture of things. If there are blogs out there which are in languages I can't even read, I am missing out on a huge amount of things. I mean I think I have enough here to keep me going, I guess it's just nice to sometimes put things in perspective. When our children grow up blogging will be an everyday thing that is completely normal, and they will laugh at us oldies that didn't have it when we were kids. The blogging world is a big place....really big, and we're a part of it. How amazing is that! Happy Blogging Folks!

There are 6 billion souls on this planet.  Some of those souls have multiple blogs (PhoexniBoi, Parated2k and Gideon come to mind).  So the upwards potential is enormous!  But look at it this way.

Out of all those blogs, and all those people, you have one of the most popular blogs on one of the largest blog sites in the world.  So your stuff is being read by literally millions of people. 1 person, Millions.

Now that boggles my mind!

Good thing you are in Florida. I doubt our state could contain that ego.

Well, it must as I lived in Martinsville for a tad over 7 years.

I'm not conceited; just convinced.

When I started blogging nearly two years ago, I did so because I'd read it was going to be the most significant communication tool of the 21st century. At the time, I was cynical but curious. As I'm still here, I guess my cynacism has waned. Certainly, the figures you quote, Sally, indicate the article I'd read to be correct.

Now, all we need is a blog tool that automatically translates blogs into whatever language we speak so we can truly communicate to the world.

So your stuff is being read by literally millions of people. 1 person, Millions.

This is amazing. So one person can truly make a difference. Cool...

Yeah, it truly warms the heart to know that many people think one is an asshat on a daily basis.

One has to agree that blogging is popular! I have this JU blog, Myspace, Hi5, Ringo, skyblog... Yeah I have many blogs, not all of them are updated but i suppose it builds up the traffic. I think there are lots of people that do that too.

Out of topic sweety, I've missed ya! xoxox

Now that is just amazing!  Millions of people reading 'lil old me?  That sounds wrong!

It all started when word got out that I had started blogging.

That's certainly what attracted me!  I just wanted to be in the company of modest mason!  Hehe!

I was cynical, and I never realised how popular blogging was.  It is amazing just how fast it is growing though!

Yeah, it truly warms the heart to know that many people think one is an asshat on a daily basis.

Hehe...you make me laugh Mason

I did have a MySpace blog, but it was crap, so I stopped bothering and ran far away from the terrifying place that is known as MySpace!

Out of topic sweety, I've missed ya! xoxox
