"Conversation should be pleasant without scurrility, witty without affectation, free without indecency, learned without conceitedness, novel without falsehood."

So I had to do it, I had to check out what the deal with MySpace was. So I went for a look.....I even created a profile (call it a scientific experiment) and my conclusion....well a fair summary would be that said profile is now deleted, and I will not be returning to that website. MySpace doesn't seem to be a good name for it....collectafriend.com is much better. Now I know alot of people have already given MySpace a good slating, so I'll try and keep this as constructive as possible. What I did like about the site was the links to all kinds of new and up-and-coming artists, and giving them the exposure that they need. That was great, and it wasn't just limited to music. Films, comedians, anyone can get attention on there, and to me who lives with her head in the clouds it's a great thing to have these people brought to your attention, or to have a way of finding information on them quickly. Brilliant.

Is it me, or is there a running competition on there on who can collect the most friends? Who can show they KNOW the most people. Even though they don't actually know them at all. Don't get me wrong, it is wonderful to meet new people, and meet them from wide and far. I have met some wonderful people online, that otherwise I would never have met. I however, don't think posing for a picture with my tits hanging out, just so a bunch of sexually frustrated boys can post it up, and show me as one of their friends is a great way of making meaningful friendships. Maybe I am just miserable, I don't know. All you have to do is look through the different profiles on that website, and there is a general way that things go. The less clothes, the better. The sexier look, the better. The more friends, the better. There is even an option to blog on there. I had a few goes of that. That was erm....rewarding. Maybe some need a guide to what blogging is actually about. Or maybe my head is just stuck up my own arse, and I'm the one that's wrong, who knows.

The thing that irritated me about this website the most though is the men. I am sure if I was a bloke that I would be saying the women, so don't think this is a sexist comment. On your profile, it says where you are from, and blah blah, so people from the same areas can get in touch, talk to each other, etc. I lost count of the messages I got from blokes, who were blatantly after just one things, and let me tell you, it wasn't a deep and meaningful conversation. I even had one, who moments after talking to me, was asking me to meet, and do whatever it is people do in that situation. *Looks innocent*. Now this isn't a sexist rant, because I am guessing that there are girls on that website who are there for exactly the same reason. Why would you do that though? Seriously thinking about it, why? Surely you would just go out for a night on the town, and pull a classy chick. Why waste your time doing it on some website? Why would that be your incentive to be there? Please someone explain to me why these people do these things? This wasn't a one off occasion either. It happened on a daily basis. Bloody sexually frustrated boys. Some girls may like that attention, but not me. I like to talk to people, and get to know them. MySpace is certainly very popular, and I am taking nothing away from it. Whatever floats your boat. It didn't float mine though.

This is great fodder for a new article: "I Love You! (Just Don't Get Saggy!)"

Hehe...great idea!

Isn't it how the Arctic Monkeys originally got some of their music out to the masses?

Yep it sure is, MySpace is really great for that. There is another girl here who I am loving at the moment and she did exactly the same thing. Her first single is about to go number one here. I might write a blog about her.....

the idea of measuring your self worth against how many 'friends' you have is a very teenager thing, isn't it? Even as a teenager, I could never understand the necessity. I have always been a quality over quantity person, so the MySpace idea has very little appeal to me.

I'm the same, and to be fair the majority of people there are of a similar age to me...bloody kids!

Sally, however . . . curse that Atlantic Ocean and its fatty size

Hehe...you get swimming, and I'll get eating....perfect match, ha!

Heck, I'd still be your friend . . . but I'm sure you're ten million jillion times more gorgeous than that!

Awww! You Sweetie! Gone all embarrassed now.....
