"Conversation should be pleasant without scurrility, witty without affectation, free without indecency, learned without conceitedness, novel without falsehood."

David Beckham returned to Manchester recently. I think it was for the England game. He decided to do a spot of shopping in the town Centre, and got completely mobbed. Nothing new there. He had a hat on, and someone stole it. The next day on the front page of the local newspaper was the girl who had 'stole' this hat. Looking extremely proud of herself. She told how she had took his hat, and pinched his bum. She then said how she was going to sell the hat. That newspaper recieved hundreds of emails from people disgusted at this girls behaviour. That even though he is a star, it is still stealing. She didn't even want to keep it, she just wanted to get money for it. Apparently a newspaper bought it off her for £2000, and returned it to David. Are people right to be so outraged?

wtf. that's all I got to say about this girl. so David is hot, super talented, and famous. but he's also a father, husband, and person who does not deserve to be accosted and have things stolen from him. That chick sounds like a tittering fool, what if her newspaper article caused her to be charged with theft or something? Sometimes people amaze me, and not in a good way.

Yes.  Actually, I can see a bit of hero worship.  But she was just profiteering.  And as that they paid her 2000 pounds, that is grand larceny as well.

As far as I am concerned this is yet another example of the loss of manners and courtesy. If the woman in question was to turn around and donate the 2000 quid to a charity, well I might have a little respect for her, as I'm sure David would. But I have feeling she will spend it on clothes, lager and fags and talk about it for the rest of her life as though it was something good. What a sad, pathetic person she is...

Happens to me all the time.

She should go to jail.

I think maybe that's the shock she needs. Might stop her bragging about it.

If it was hero worship, I could understand. Someone also brought up the point that if the roles were reversed and Davin had pinched her bum, everyone would of thought that was terrible....hmm...

No, she's only 18, I don't think that money will be put to good use somehow.

Happens to me all the time.

Sorry, I'll post your hat back straight away!
